SET 1 — 🔍 CAT Level
Seven adventurers — Indy, Hans, Frodo, Jack, Inigo, Lawrence and Robin — explored a tomb in search of treasure.
There are seven buttons labelled A through G. The door opens only if:
All seven buttons are pressed exactly once.
They are pressed in one specific correct order.
If a person presses an incorrect button at any position, a bottomless pit opens immediately and the person falls in before pressing any more buttons.
Each subsequent adventurer knows what the previous adventurers pressed and can use this information.
Only the last adventurer to attempt the buttons successfully opened the door.
No two adventurers pressed the same number of buttons.

✅ Answers & Explanations
From the table, we can see that Indy fell into the pit after pressing the third button. Hence, the third button is not A. Also, Frodo pressed the first button as A. But Inigo, who pressed at least two buttons, pressed the first button as F. Hence, F must be the first button and Frodo must have fallen into the pit after pressing the first button.
The person who fell into the pit after pressing exactly two buttons cannot be Indy, Hans (since he pressed the 4th and 5th buttons), Frodo, Jack (since he pressed the 3rd button), Lawrence (since he pressed the 6th button) and Robin (since he pressed the 5th button). Hence, the only person who could have fallen into the pit after pressing two buttons is Inigo. Also, the second button in order cannot be A.
Since Indy pressed A and fell into the pit, the third button cannot be A. Also, Jack, who pressed G as the third button, could not have fallen into the pit after pressing G (because each person pressed a different number of buttons). Hence, the third button in order must be G.
The fourth button in order must be D, since Hans pressed D and then pressed the next button.
Between Lawrence and Robin, if the fifth button is B, then Lawrence would not have pressed B as the sixth button. This is because Lawrence pressed at least six buttons and he must have pressed the fifth button correctly. If the fifth button was B, he would not have pressed B again as the sixth button. Hence, the fifth button cannot be B and Robin must have fallen into the pit after pressing exactly five buttons.
Among the remaining persons, the only person who could have fallen into the pit after pressing exactly four buttons is Jack.
Also, Hans pressed the fifth button as C. Since Robin fell into the pit after pressing exactly five buttons, Hans could not have fallen into the pit after pressing C. Hence, the fifth button must be C.
The second button cannot be A because Inigo fell into the pit after pressing the second button as A. The second button cannot be B because neither Robin nor Lawrence would press B as a later button if it was the second button. Hence, the second button can only be E.
The last button in order can be A or B and this can be pressed by either Hans or Lawrence. Since Lawrence pressed B, Hans must not have pressed the same number of buttons. This is because both of them cannot press the same number of buttons. Hence, Lawrence and Hans must have pressed different numbers of buttons.
Therefore, the order of the buttons is:
F, E, G, D, C, B/A, A/B
