✅ Answers & Explanations
We have six batsmen:
Rohit, Rahul, Kohli, Iyer, Dhoni and Pandey
Runs scored:
17, 24, 36, 38, 43, 62
Let the positions in the queue be:
Front → 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 – 5 – 6 → Rear
Step 1: Use the relationship between Dhoni and Iyer's scores
Dhoni scored 7 runs more than Iyer.
From the available scores:
17 and 24 → difference 7
36 and 43 → difference 7
Therefore, there are only two possibilities:
Case 1: Iyer = 17, Dhoni = 24
Case 2: Iyer = 36, Dhoni = 43
Step 2: Use Rahul's score condition
Rahul scored 19 runs more than the batsman standing at the rear end of the queue.
From the available scores, pairs differing by 19 are:
17 → 36
24 → 43
43 → 62
So the possible combinations are:
Rear person's score | Rahul's score |
|---|---|
17 | 36 |
24 | 43 |
43 | 62 |
Step 3: Apply the adjacent-score condition
Any two batsmen standing next to each other must have a score difference of at least 15.
Also:
Iyer is immediately in front of Kohli.
Rahul is behind Rohit.
Dhoni is three places away from Rohit.
Testing the possible score combinations with these conditions gives only one valid arrangement.
Final Arrangement
Position | Batsman | Runs |
|---|---|---|
1 | Iyer | 36 |
2 | Kohli | 17 |
3 | Rohit | 38 |
4 | Rahul | 62 |
5 | Pandey | 24 |
6 | Dhoni | 43 |
Front → Iyer – Kohli – Rohit – Rahul – Pandey – Dhoni → Rear
Check the adjacent score differences:
Iyer (36) & Kohli (17) → 19 ✅
Kohli (17) & Rohit (38) → 21 ✅
Rohit (38) & Rahul (62) → 24 ✅
Rahul (62) & Pandey (24) → 38 ✅
Pandey (24) & Dhoni (43) → 19 ✅
All differences are at least 15.
Other conditions:
Rahul is behind Rohit ✅
Rahul scored 62, which is 19 more than rear-end batsman Dhoni's 43 ✅
Dhoni scored 43, seven more than Iyer's 36 ✅
Dhoni is at position 6 and Rohit at position 3, so they are three places apart ✅
Iyer is immediately in front of Kohli ✅
