SET 1 — 🔍 CAT Level

Each of six persons, Abi, Namish, Praveen, Sankar, Jay and Chiddu, went to watch a different movie in a multiplex. All the six movies started at the same time, but the length of each movie was different. Each of the six persons entered the multiplex at the same time as the movie that he went to watch began and exited the multiplex immediately after the end of the movie that he watched.

It is known that:

i. All the six persons were in the multiplex for exactly 150 minutes, at least four persons were in the multiplex for exactly 200 minutes.

ii. Chiddu, who was the last to exit the multiplex, exited the multiplex 60 minutes after Jay, while Praveen watched a movie which was 220 minutes long.

iii. The second person to exit the multiplex exited 30 minutes before the third person to exit the multiplex did so.

iv. Abi, who watched a movie whose length was at least 180 minutes, exited the multiplex immediately before Namish.

Set 1

All six were inside for exactly 150 minutes.

So, first exit = 150 minutes.

At least four persons were inside for exactly 200 minutes.

So, third exit = 200 minutes.

Second person exited 30 minutes before the third person.

So, second exit = 170 minutes.

Exit order so far:

1st = 150
2nd = 170
3rd = 200

Praveen watched a 220-minute movie.

Chiddu was the last to exit and exited 60 minutes after Jay.

If Jay exited at 170 minutes, then Chiddu exited at 230 minutes.

So:

Jay = 170
Chiddu = 230
Praveen = 220

Abi exited immediately before Namish, and Abi’s movie was at least 180 minutes.

So, Abi must be the third person to exit.

Abi = 200
Namish = between 200 and 220
Praveen = 220
Chiddu = 230

Sankar = 150

Final arrangement:

Sankar = 150
Jay = 170
Abi = 200
Namish = between 200 and 220
Praveen = 220
Chiddu = 230

Answers:

  1. Jay watched a 170-minute movie.

  2. Exactly five persons were in the multiplex from 150 to 170 minutes.

Answer = 20 minutes

  1. Exactly three persons were inside between Abi and Namish.

So, Namish - 200 = 15

Namish = 215 minutes

  1. Only Chiddu left after Praveen.

Answer = 1 person
