SET 1 — 🔍 CAT Level
The four major components of a home theatre system are television, soundbar, media player, and remote control. Arjun assembles home theatre systems for his clients. For this purpose, he purchases four complete sets, each consisting of one component from each category. All components belong to different brands and have distinct prices. The television brands are Sony, LG, Panasonic, and OnePlus, and the price difference between successive televisions, arranged from the cheapest to the costliest, is Rs. 2,700. The soundbar brands are Bose, JBL, Yamaha, and Samsung, with a price difference of Rs. 600 between successive soundbars, arranged from the cheapest to the costliest. The media player brands are Amazon, Roku, Apple, and Xiaomi, with a price difference of Rs. 400 between successive media players, arranged from the cheapest to the costliest. The remote control brands are Logitech, Sony, Philips, and Mi, with a price difference of Rs. 150 between successive remote controls, arranged from the cheapest to the costliest.
Arjun assembled the costliest components from each category together, and the cheapest components from each category together. The same arrangement was followed for the components in the second and third price categories.
It is further known that:
(i) The Philips remote and the Yamaha soundbar are fitted in the same system. The costliest remote control is neither Sony nor Mi.
(ii) A Sony television is compatible only with a Sony remote, which is priced at Rs. 650.
(iii) An LG television is compatible only with an Amazon media player, which is priced at Rs. 3,280.
(iv) A Panasonic television is compatible only with a Philips remote and a Roku media player.
(v) A OnePlus television, which is priced at Rs. 30,400, is incompatible with the Apple media player.
(vi) The Bose soundbar is the costliest among the four soundbars, whereas the Xiaomi media player is the cheapest among the four media players.
(vii) The JBL soundbar is priced at Rs. 5,200 and is not the cheapest. The Apple media player costs less than Rs. 2,500.

✅ Answers & Explanations
Final Arrangement:
Price Rank | Television | Soundbar | Media Player | Remote |
|---|---|---|---|---|
1st / Cheapest | OnePlus ₹30,400 | Samsung ₹4,600 | Xiaomi ₹2,080 | Mi ₹500 |
2nd | Sony ₹33,100 | JBL ₹5,200 | Apple ₹2,480 | Sony ₹650 |
3rd | Panasonic ₹35,800 | Yamaha ₹5,800 | Roku ₹2,880 | Philips ₹800 |
4th / Costliest | LG ₹38,500 | Bose ₹6,400 | Amazon ₹3,280 | Logitech ₹950 |
Set 1
Since Arjun groups components by price rank:
Cheapest TV + Cheapest soundbar + Cheapest media player + Cheapest remote are together.
Similarly, 2nd cheapest components are together, 3rd cheapest components are together, and costliest components are together.
Step 1: Media players
Xiaomi is the cheapest.
Amazon costs Rs. 3,280.
Apple costs less than Rs. 2,500.
Price difference = Rs. 400.
So media player prices must be:
1st: Xiaomi = Rs. 2,080
2nd: Apple = Rs. 2,480
3rd: Roku = Rs. 2,880
4th: Amazon = Rs. 3,280
Step 2: Televisions
LG is compatible only with Amazon media player.
So LG must be in the 4th price category.
OnePlus TV costs Rs. 30,400 and is incompatible with Apple.
Since Apple is in the 2nd category, OnePlus cannot be 2nd.
Panasonic is compatible with Roku, and Roku is in the 3rd category.
So Panasonic is 3rd.
Therefore:
1st: OnePlus = Rs. 30,400
2nd: Sony = Rs. 33,100
3rd: Panasonic = Rs. 35,800
4th: LG = Rs. 38,500
Step 3: Remote controls
Sony TV is compatible only with Sony remote, priced Rs. 650.
Since Sony TV is 2nd, Sony remote is also 2nd.
Remote price difference = Rs. 150.
So:
1st: Mi = Rs. 500
2nd: Sony = Rs. 650
3rd: Philips = Rs. 800
4th: Logitech = Rs. 950
This also satisfies the condition that the costliest remote is neither Sony nor Mi.
Step 4: Soundbars
Philips remote and Yamaha soundbar are in the same system.
Philips remote is 3rd, so Yamaha soundbar is 3rd.
Bose is costliest.
JBL costs Rs. 5,200 and is not cheapest, so JBL must be 2nd.
Therefore:
1st: Samsung = Rs. 4,600
2nd: JBL = Rs. 5,200
3rd: Yamaha = Rs. 5,800
4th: Bose = Rs. 6,400
Final Arrangement
1st system:
OnePlus TV – Samsung soundbar – Xiaomi media player – Mi remote
2nd system:
Sony TV – JBL soundbar – Apple media player – Sony remote
3rd system:
Panasonic TV – Yamaha soundbar – Roku media player – Philips remote
4th system:
LG TV – Bose soundbar – Amazon media player – Logitech remote
Q1 → Cheapest television is OnePlus.
Q2 → Sony and JBL belong to the same system.
Q3 → Samsung soundbar system total:
30,400 + 4,600 + 2,080 + 500 = Rs. 37,580
Q4:
I. One paired media player and soundbar costs Rs. 6,480 → False
II. Bose soundbar is paired with LG television → True
Final Answer: II only.
