SET 1 — 🔍 CAT Level

A travel company received sponsorship from eight cafes to promote them on their channel. The company's eight top food bloggers—Ritu, Kiku, Soni, Tanu, Uday, Varun, Wahi, and Piya—will travel and create promotional videos for these cafes. They will travel on two different dates (5th and 20th) across four months: January, March, April, and May.

Each blogger visits one different cafe, coded as Cafe A, Cafe B, Cafe C, Cafe D, Cafe E, Cafe F, Cafe G, and Cafe H. Every blogger travels once, on a specific date, month, and cafe, and all the information is not necessarily in the same order. No two bloggers travel on the same date of the month.

(i) The blogger who visits Cafe H travels before the blogger who visits Cafe E, but both travel on the 5th.

(ii) Soni travels just before the blogger who visits Cafe B, but not in the same month. Tanu travels just before Piya in the same month.

(iii) The number of bloggers who travel before Soni is equal to the number of bloggers who travel after Kiku.

(iv) Soni does not travel in January.

(v) There are more than two bloggers between Kiku and the blogger who visits Cafe D.

(vi) There are four bloggers between the ones who visit Cafe D and Cafe F.

(vii) Kiku does not visit Cafe F. Wahi visits Cafe C.

(viii) Varun travels immediately after the blogger who visits Cafe A, but not in the same month.

(ix) There are more than one blogger between Uday and the blogger who visits Cafe G.

Set 1

Let us arrange the dates in order:

Jan 5 → Jan 20 → Mar 5 → Mar 20 → Apr 5 → Apr 20 → May 5 → May 20

From clue (iii):
Number before Soni = number after Kiku.

So Soni and Kiku must be symmetrically placed.

Possible pairs:

Soni 1, Kiku 8
Soni 2, Kiku 7
Soni 3, Kiku 6
Soni 4, Kiku 5

But Soni is just before Cafe B, not in the same month.
Also Soni is not in January.

So Soni cannot be Jan 5 or Jan 20.
If Soni is Apr 20, next slot is May 5, Kiku would be Mar 5. But other clues do not fit.

The valid placement is:

Soni = Mar 20
Kiku = Apr 5

So Cafe B must be immediately after Soni:

Apr 5 = Kiku, Cafe B

Now clue (ii):
Tanu travels just before Piya in the same month.

Only possible same-month pairs are:

Jan 5–Jan 20
Mar 5–Mar 20
Apr 5–Apr 20
May 5–May 20

Since Mar 20 is Soni and Apr 5 is Kiku, the only suitable pair is:

Jan 5 = Tanu
Jan 20 = Piya

Now clue (viii):
Varun travels immediately after Cafe A, but not in the same month.

Since Jan 20 is followed by Mar 5 and they are different months, we get:

Jan 20 = Cafe A
Mar 5 = Varun

So:

Jan 20 = Piya, Cafe A
Mar 5 = Varun

Now clue (i):
Cafe H is before Cafe E, and both are on 5th.

5th slots are Jan 5, Mar 5, Apr 5, May 5.

Apr 5 already has Cafe B.
Jan 5 cannot be Cafe H because then Cafe E must be later on 5th. Possible, but we also need remaining cafe clues.
The final valid placement becomes:

Mar 5 = Cafe H
May 5 = Cafe E

So:

Mar 5 = Varun, Cafe H
May 5 = Uday, Cafe E

Now clue (vi):
There are four bloggers between Cafe D and Cafe F.

Possible positions with four between them:

1 and 6
2 and 7
3 and 8

Cafe A is already position 2, Cafe H is position 3, Cafe E is position 7.
So Cafe D and Cafe F must be positions 1 and 6.

From clue (v):
There are more than two bloggers between Kiku and Cafe D.

Kiku is position 5.
So Cafe D must be position 1.

Therefore:

Jan 5 = Tanu, Cafe D
Apr 20 = Cafe F

Remaining blogger at Apr 20 is Ritu.

So:

Apr 20 = Ritu, Cafe F

Clue (vii):
Wahi visits Cafe C.

Only remaining slot for Wahi is May 20.

So:

May 20 = Wahi, Cafe C

Remaining cafe for Soni is Cafe G.

  1. Varun is on Mar 5. Cafe C is visited by Wahi on May 20.
Between them: Soni, Kiku, Ritu, Uday
    Answer: 4

  2. On 5th May, Uday travels.
    Answer: 1) Uday

  3. The correct 20th-date combination is:
    Apr 20 → Ritu, Cafe F
    Answer: 3) Ritu, Cafe F

  4. Statements:

I. Wahi does not travel on an even date.
False, because Wahi travels on May 20.

II. Tanu visits Cafe D.
True.

III. Kiku travels before Ritu.
True.

Not true: I only
Answer: 1) I only
