Welcome to the very first edition of Brain Teasers With Ease — a newsletter designed to sharpen your logical thinking while keeping the experience fun and engaging.

This newsletter is split into:

  • 4 Exam-Focused Sections → NMAT, SNAP & CMAT style Logical Reasoning

  • 4 Fun Brain Sections → Riddles, lateral thinking, visual logic & everyday IQ challenges

Let’s begin 🚀

SECTION 1 — 🔍 Statement & Assumption (NMAT/SNAP)

Question 1

Statement:
“More students are now choosing online MBA programs than traditional classroom courses.”

Assumptions:

  1. Online MBA programs are more flexible.

  2. Traditional classroom courses are becoming irrelevant.

A) Only 1 follows
B) Only 2 follows
C) Both follow
D) Neither follows

Question 2

Statement:
“The company has decided to reduce meetings to improve productivity.”

Assumptions:

  1. Meetings consume employee time.

  2. Employees dislike meetings.

A) Only 1
B) Only 2
C) Both
D) Neither

Answers & Explanations

1️⃣ A) Only 1 follows
Flexibility can reasonably be assumed. But saying traditional classrooms are irrelevant is too extreme.

2️⃣ A) Only 1
Reducing meetings implies they take time. Employee dislike is not necessarily assumed.

SECTION 2 — 🔢 Number & Pattern Logic (NMAT/CMAT)

Q1 Find the next number:

2, 6, 12, 20, 30, ?

A) 36
B) 40
C) 42
D) 44

Q2 Find the next number:

5, 11, 23, 47, ?

A) 91
B) 95
C) 87
D) 99

Q3 What should come in place of question mark(?) in the following number series.

5, 8, 10, 16, 20, 32, ?

A) 38
B) 36
C) 44
D) 40

Q4 Select the odd word/letters/number/number pair from the given alternatives.

A) 1
B) 243
C) 256
D) 32

Answers

1️⃣ C) 42
Pattern:
+4, +6, +8, +10, +12

2️⃣ B) 95
Pattern:
×2 +1 repeatedly

5→11
11→23
23→47
47→95

3️⃣D)40

The given series is a combination of two series – 5, 10, 20... and 8, 16, 32...

In both the sequences, the next number is twice the previous number. The ‘?’ is part of the first series and is 20 × 2 = 40.

4️⃣C)256

1⁵ = 1

2⁵ = 32

3⁵ = 243

256 cannot be represented as the power of 5 of a natural number.

Hence, option C is the right choice.

SECTION 3 — 🧩 Arrangement Puzzle (SNAP Style)

Five friends — Arun, Bala, Charan, Deepak and Esha — sit in a row facing north.

  • Arun sits second from left.

  • Esha sits immediate right of Bala.

  • Charan sits at one of the ends.

  • Deepak is not near Arun.

Who sits in the middle?

A) Bala
B) Esha
C) Charan
D) Deepak

Solution

Arrangement:

Charan | Arun | Bala | Esha | Deepak

✅ Middle person = Bala

Answer: A

Bad news is good business. We never bought in.

Every morning, financial news follows the same script. Headlines panic, coverage catastrophises, and somewhere inside the noise is the story that actually matters — the one that tells you where the opportunity sits, not just where the fear is pointing.

Most sources have stopped looking. The alarm is easier to sell.

The Daily Upside was created by Wall Street insiders for readers who crave real insight over recycled anxiety. Five minutes of global business and finance, before the noise sets the agenda — just the facts, context, and analysis your decisions need.

Join 1M readers — including managing directors and principals at some of Wall Street’s largest institutions — who trust The Daily Upside to filter through the chaos.

The upsides are always there. We’ll find them before breakfast.

SECTION 4 — 🧠 Coding-Decoding (NMAT Style)

  1. If:
    CAT = 24
    DOG = 26

Then:
FISH = ?

A) 34
B) 42
C) 46
D) 50

  1. If 'DANGER' is written as 'RDEAGN' in a certain code, then how would 'PARALLEL' be written in that code?

    A) LAPAEILR
    B) LPALEALR
    C) LPEALRLA
    D) LPLEARAL

Solution

  1. Add alphabetical positions:

F = 6
I = 9
S = 19
H = 8

Total = 42

✅ Answer: B

  1. 'DANGER' is written as 'RDEAGN'.

    The first half of word is written in the even numbered places - 2, 4 and 6 - and the next half of the word is written in the odd numbered places in the reverse order - 5, 3 and 1.

    Similarly, 'PARA' is the first half of the word. P, A, R and A will be the 2nd, 4th, 6th and 8th letters in the code language.

    'LLEL' is the second half of the word. L, E, L and L will be the 7th, 5th, 3rd and 1st letters respectively in the code language.

    'LPEALRLA' is the coded word for 'PARALLEL'.

    ✅ Answer: C
